LEGO Robotics Camps to be offered at Space Center
City teaming up with Mathobotix to offer camps this summer

Downey, CA, July 7, 2010: The Columbia Memorial Space Center will be hosting Academic Robotics Camps this summer for children ages 6-14 years old. These camps will give children the opportunity to work on customized LEGO engineering projects based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) curriculum. Students will learn the basic static structures used in robotics by applying the fundamentals of math and science concepts. Children will be placed in age and grade appropriate levels.

Mathobotix will be conducting these exciting camps and will be offering them at a discounted fee of $150 per week for full day (9am-4pm) and $120 per week for half day (9am-12pm). Before and After Day Care will also be available for an additional $8 per hour. This special reduced fee, which includes camp, t-shirt and Space Center admission, applies only to children who attend a camp at the Columbia Memorial Space Center this summer. There will be three, one week sessions offered on the following dates: July 26-July 30, August 2- August 6 and August 9-August 13. Parents can sign up their children for one or all three camps if they wish. The three sessions will be offering different hands-on learning concepts each week for children to explore. Mathobotix will be conducting an Open House prior to the camps to give parents and children the opportunity to learn more about what the camps will offer. The Open House will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 3pm- 5pm at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, 12400 Columbia Way, Downey, CA. Admission to this event is free and no pre-registration is required. Mathobotix staff will be giving an interactive demonstration with the robots and will provide a question and answer section at the end for anyone interested in the Robotics Camps.
